Sprayground Takes Over Times Square with a Gold Shark Chopper Pop-Up
Sprayground is taking over the heart of New York City once again — and this time, it’s arriving by helicopter.
On September 6 and 7, 2026, the global streetwear and travel fashion brand brought its signature larger-than-life energy to Times Square, transforming one of the world's most recognizable destinations into an unexpected Sprayground experience.
For two days only, the brand's iconic Gold Shark Chopper touched down in the center of Manhattan, with a Sprayground retail experience housed inside a shipping container attached to the helicopter. Positioned in front of the TKTS steps on Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets, the installation turned one of New York's busiest intersections into a larger-than-life celebration of fashion, travel and street culture.

A Sprayground Store Like No Other
Forget the traditional retail experience.
True to Sprayground's reputation for pushing the boundaries of physical retail, the Times Square pop-up was designed to be as much a visual spectacle as it was a shopping destination.
The Gold Shark Chopper immediately became the centerpiece of the experience, combining one of Sprayground's most recognizable visual signatures — its iconic shark motif — with the unexpected imagery of a helicopter landing in the middle of Times Square.
Attached to the chopper was a shipping container transformed into a Sprayground shop, creating a bold contrast between industrial design and the brand's colorful, graphic-driven aesthetic.
The result was a destination made for New York — fast-paced, unexpected and impossible to miss.

Bringing Sprayground's World to Times Square
Sprayground has always approached its retail experiences as opportunities to build worlds around the brand rather than simply sell products.
That philosophy has helped the company become known for some of the industry's most imaginative pop-ups, from immersive installations featuring enormous sculptures and interactive experiences to temporary retail destinations that become cultural moments in their own right.
The Times Square activation continues that tradition.
With tourists, New Yorkers, fashion fans, collectors and Sprayground loyalists passing through one of the world's busiest destinations, the pop-up brought the brand directly into the middle of the city's constant movement.
And for a brand born in New York, there could hardly be a more fitting backdrop.

From New York to the World
Founded in New York in 2010 by designer and creative director David BenDavid, Sprayground has grown from a disruptive backpack label into a global creative lifestyle brand spanning fashion, travel, art, music and pop culture.
New York remains at the heart of that identity.
The brand has gone on to showcase its collections at New York, Milan and London Fashion Weeks, while building a global following through its limited-edition designs and collaborations.
Returning to Times Square with a gold helicopter and a mobile retail experience feels like a natural extension of that journey: taking Sprayground's unmistakable New York energy and putting it on one of the world's biggest stages.

The Final Stop in Sprayground's NYC Takeover
The Times Square experience marked the final chapter of Sprayground's major summer 2026 New York takeover.
Across three very different locations, the brand created a trio of experiences designed to showcase the breadth of the Sprayground universe.
At the New York Botanical Garden, fashion met nature through a 30-piece collaboration inspired by the Garden's botanical collections. At the James A. Farley Building, Sprayground joined forces with USPS to reinterpret American postal heritage through a limited-edition collection of backpacks, bags and the brand's first collectible toy. And in Times Square, Sprayground brought the energy back to the streets with its Gold Shark Chopper.
Three locations. Three completely different worlds. One unmistakably Sprayground approach.

Designed for the Moment
Perhaps the biggest appeal of the Times Square pop-up was that it wasn't designed to simply blend into its surroundings.
It was designed to stand out.
The Gold Shark Chopper, the shipping-container shop and the unmistakable Sprayground aesthetic created an installation that was built for photographs, social media and, most importantly, real-world discovery.
In a city where there is always something competing for attention, Sprayground once again found a way to make people stop, look up and wonder what was happening.
Because that's what Sprayground does best: take something familiar, turn it upside down and make it impossible to ignore.
And in the middle of Times Square, there was nowhere better to do it.
